Audience: All Canine Veterinary Technicians new to canine teeth cleaning, and those needing a refresher.
Problem: Valley Veterinary Clinic is experiencing a high demand for canine teeth cleaning following recently published reports highlighting the importance of this procedure.
Solution: More trained veterinary techs who can assist the supervising veterinarian in teeth cleanings will increase the number of canine patients treated by 25% in the upcoming fiscal year.
Highlights: This course includes an animated host who guides the learner through the course. For practical application, each section requires the learner to put the necessary steps in the correct order, and check for understanding.
Process: To identify learner needs, a job analysis was conducted via interview and written communication. A task analysis was completed via remote observation of the cleaning process. To understand the technical processes of the subject, I interviewed a veterinary dentist who works almost exclusively with dogs. She explained the exam and cleaning processes, and I observed virtually as she trained a vet tech. Then I created a Design Document and reviewed it with the veterinarian. Once adjustments were made, I created a Storyboard, which went through several phases of development. Finally, I create the module in Storyline, along with a Job Aid outlining the necessary steps and processes.
This course is supported by a Design Document, Storyboard, and Job Aid.

This course is designed to prepare veterinary dentistry technicians to safely and effectively perform all the necessary steps of teeth cleaning for dogs. It is one component of a comprehensive training program that includes on-the-job-training and observation by veterinary dentistry staff.
Kirkpatrick's Level 1 - Reaction: A short follow-up survey will identify whether the training was favorable, engaging, and relevant to learners' job duties.
Kirkpatrick's Level 2 - Learning: To evaluate the training, learners answer five scenario-based questions, and must answer 80% (4 out of 5) correctly to pass.
Kirkpatrick's Level 3 - Behavior: Follow-up interviews will be conducted with the veterinary staff to identify the extent to which new technicians are successful when performing canine mouth exams and teeth cleanings.
Kirkpatrick's Level - Results: Following training implementation, results will be tallied up to determine the percentage increase in successful cleanings. Did the training meet the goal of 25% and what needs to change to improve the course?
Audience: Employees who are newly working in the gardening department at ACME Hardware & Gardening Center.
Problem: Sales in the gardening center have fallen in each of the last two seasons. Surveys suggest that other gardening stores provide more knowledgeable sales staff, which facilitates higher spending levels.
Solution: Ensuring staff are highly knowledgeable about the array of products ACME carries will allow them to guide customers toward the products that will help with their gardening ventures. This will increase sales in the gardening center by 20% for the upcoming spring/summer season.
Highlights: This course includes interactive blocks, knowledge checks, a sales-based scenario, and a final assessment.
